Mustang Cup North America will visit three new circuits in 2026 as part of its six-event schedule announced by Ford Racing on Wednesday.
The USAC-sanctioned single-make series, which launched this year, will feature new events at Sebring International Raceway, Barber Motorsports Park and Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, in addition to the returning venues of Circuit of The Americas, Virginia International Raceway and Road America.
The three new track replace 2025 events held at NOLA Motorsports Park, Ozarks International Raceway and Lime Rock Park.
Of note, the new event at Barber, scheduled for March 27-29, will be on the NTT IndyCar Series weekend.
Mustang Cup, the first rung on the ‘Ford Racing Pyramid’ is aimed to bridge the gap between track day events and the IMSA-sanctioned Mustang Challenge North America series, which will enter its third season in 2026.
Both series utilize the same Ford Mustang Dark Horse R race car, which will also compete internationally on a full-season basis for the first time next year in Mustang Cup Australia.
“We want our one-make racers to have the best experience possible. The first step to curating that experience is picking the best venues and dates,” said Ford Racing global single-make series manager Chris Ward.
“The 2026 Mustang Cup North America calendar will allow competitors to learn tracks in their Dark Horse R vehicle they will likely visit in higher levels of sports car racing.
“Three of the six tracks on the schedule will also host Mustang Challenge North America rounds, and all six tracks will host Mustang GT4 or GT3 racing.
“With our returning teams and more reaching out each day to join the series, our sophomore season is set to take us to the next level.”
Mustang Cup has two championships, the Miles Cup and Parnelli Cup, with each championship holding one qualifying session and one race per event weekend.
This format allows two fellow racers to share one car, splitting the cost and track time of a race weekend.
Within each championship there are two classes – Dark Horse and Dark Horse Legends. DH includes all drivers within the championship, while DHL is an optional classification for drivers 40 and older.
Each Mustang Cup weekend includes three 30-minute practice sessions, two 15-minute qualifying sessions, and two 40-minute races.
