David Pittard and Nicki Thiim will reunite as teammates to lead Walkenhorst Motorsport’s lineup in this year’s Nürburgring 24.
The pair of Aston Martin factory drivers will share an Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo with Kuba Giermaziak and Christian Krognes.
Pittard and Thiim were co-drivers during NorthWest AMR’s GTE-Am campaign in the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2022, which resulted in a class victory at Sebring and further podiums at Spa and Le Mans.
They also drove together as part of TF Sport’s effort in the N24 that same year, which saw an early race-leading run curtailed by retirement after Thiim crashed after encountering fluids on track.
Krognes and Giermaziak, meanwhile have been retained from Walkenhorst’s N24 lineup last year, when they shared a BMW M4 GT3 with Jesse Krohn and Andy Soucek.
The 52nd running of the Eifel endurance classic will mark the first time Walkenhorst has fielded Aston Martin machinery at the N24 after years of racing with BMW.
Last year, the British marque was represented at the event by Doerr Motorsport and PROsport Racing, with the latter securing the brand’s best finish with 14th overall.
“While we have already proven at Spa-Francorchamps that we can clinch overall victories in major 24-hour classics, we have not yet achieved our big goal here in the Eifel,” said Walkenhorst Motorsport managing director Jörg Breuer.
“We’ve had good speed in recent years, but for various reasons we’ve never been able to clinch victory. We want to change that this year and we are confident, as we have an extremely strong package with the new Aston Martin and our drivers!”
