SRO Motorsports Group has finalized the race formats and schedules for its North America-based GT4 series, which falls under new branding.
A total of four GT4 championships will be awarded in 2019, split between Sprint and SprintX formats, as well as regional East and West championships within SprintX.
Pirelli World Challenge GTS evolves into GT4 America Sprint, which will see eight weekends featuring single-driver 50-minute races, including events at St. Pete and Long Beach.
A full-season two-driver format will be introduced in GT4 America SprintX next year, which will also award GT4 East and West regional championships.
Initially, SRO announced plans for regional SprintX-style series only, without the option of teams competing for a nationwide championship.
The opening race of the season at Circuit of The Americas in March will serve as a joint East/West round, with a standalone GT4 West race added at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in March, in support of the California 8 Hours Intercontinental GT Challenge round.
The majority of the SprintX races will be run on Blancpain GT World Challenge America weekends, in the new name for the GT3-based sprint championship formerly known as Pirelli World Challenge GT.
Additionally, GT4 America Sprint and SprintX will have shared weekends at five of its events.
