SMP Racing will continue with the same driver lineup for its AF Corse-run entry in the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup, it confirmed on Monday.
Ferrari factory drivers Miguel Molina and Davide Rigon will partner SMP Racing LMP1 driver Mikhail Aleshin in its No. 72 Ferrari 488 GT3 entered in the Pro Cup.
Rigon and Molina are returning for their third season with the SMP Ferrari program, while Aleshin replaced Viktor Shaytar in the lineup last year.
The trio’s best result last season was third at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, although they did score pole at Monza for the season-opener.
“I am glad to take part in the Blancpain GT Series again, which is always highly competitive,” said Aleshin.
“I will represent SMP Racing, driving the Ferrari F488 of the Italian AF Corse team. Our teams have been successfully cooperating for a long time – together they have won many competitions in different classes.
“As the experience of last year showed, the speed of our car is high, the team is wonderful and ready to meet any challenges.
“My teammates Davide Rigon and Miguel Molina are professional drivers, we worked very well together in the previous season. I think that this year we have all the chances to put the puzzle together.”
The SMP entry is the only Ferrari fighting for overall honors in the Pro Cup this season and thus leads the Italian manufacturer’s assault on the Blancpain GT Series.
