Ross Chouest claimed a breakthrough first overall victory in GT America powered by AWS competition following an incident-filled second race of the weekend at Road America.

Chouest survived an opening corner incident for the front row cars and a recovery run by Memo Gidley to take his No. 50 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R to a 16.105-second win over the SKI Autosports driver.

It came after the No. 32 GMG Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R of Kyle Washington had side-to-side contact with pole-sitter Memo Gidley in the No. 56 Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II at the start, resulting in a spin by Gidley.

Washington, who was served a drive-through penalty for incident responsibility, then lost control of his car on Lap 5 in Turn 13 and made contact with the wall, before nearly clobbering the pit wall on entry due to reported suspension damage.

Washington’s car was then retired.

Chouest, meanwhile, earned his maiden GT3 win and first SRO America victory since 2023 while in GT4 competition.

Gidley, who dropped back to fifth after the incident, carved his way through the field, ultimately passing the No. 29 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3 EVO of Justin Rothberg for second with 20 minutes to go.

Rothberg, in a backup BMW chassis following his race-ending accident on Saturday, completed the SRO3 class podium.

Farhan Siddiqi was the final finisher in the 40-minute contest, coming home fourth in his No. 20 FASTMD with Remstar Audi despite suffering a spin in Turn 14 with ten minutes to go while challenging Rothberg for the final podium position.

The No. 2 Racers Edge Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo of Jason Bell did not take part in Sunday’s race due to damage sustained in an accident in Race 1.

RESULTS: Race 2
