Rothberg Tops Opening Road America Practice

Turner Motorsport driver quickest in opening practice at Road America…

Justin Rothberg was quickest in the first GT America powered by AWS practice session of the weekend at Road America.

The Turner Motorsport driver recorded a best lap of 2:18.878 in his No. 29 BMW M4 GT3 on a drying circuit in the 30-minute session.

It was 0.295 seconds quicker than the No. 70 Mishumotors Callaway Corvette C7 GT3-R of Mirco Schultis.

Jason Daskalos was third quickest in the No. 27 CRP Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo, with Ross Chouest and Elias Sabo completing the top-five in the SRO3 class for Chouest Povoledo Racing and Flying Lizard Motorsports, respectively.

Sabo, meanwhile, set the quickest time overall in the Bronze Test session that ran immediately before GTA Practice 1, although it was on a considerably more wet track.

The GT4 class in the first official practice was led by the No. 95 FASTMD Racing with Remstar Racing Audi R8 LMS GT4 of Farhan Siddiqi, thanks to a 2:29.866 lap time.

Siddiqi was nearly two seconds quicker than point leader Isaac Sherman in the No. 098 Rotek Racing Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport.

Thirteen of the 19 entered cars turned laps, with SRO3 points leader Johnny O’Connell in the No. 3 SKI Autosports Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II among the cars not to set a time.

Practice 2 is set for a 1:45 p.m. CDT start time this afternoon.
