Rothberg Quickest in Stop-Start Second Session

Justin Rothberg quickest again in second GT America powered by AWS practice at Road America…

Justin Rothberg laid down a last-lap flyer to go quickest in the second and final GT America powered by AWS practice session at Road America.

Rothberg, in the No. 29 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3, reeled off a 2:08.125 lap time in the stop-start session that led to limited run time.

It was 0.058 seconds quicker than James Sofronas in the No. 14 GMG Racing Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II, with Jason Bell third quickest in the No. 2 Flying Lizard Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo.

Jason Daskalos and Kyle Washington completed the top-five in the SRO3 class.

GT4 saw the No. 7 ACI Motorsports Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport of Curt Swearingin lead the way. thanks to a 2:18.795.

The No. 25 Heart of Racing Team Aston Martin Vantage GT4 of Gray Newell was second quickest.

The session saw two red flag periods, the first for the rear bodywork from Mirco Schultis’ Callaway Corvette C7 GT3-R that fell onto the track and the second for Isaac Sherman, who had a suspected mechanical issue with his Rotek Racing Porsche and pulled off the track underneath the Sargento bridge.

Qualifying is set for Saturday at 8:05 a.m. CDT.
