James Sofronas scored his elusive first win of the GT America powered by AWS season following a flag-to-flag performance in Sunday’s race at Road America.

The GMG Racing team owner/driver held off a challenge from Race 1 winner Justin Rothberg to take his No. 14 Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II to a 0.379-second victory over the No. 29 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3.

It came after multiple attempts for the lead by Rothberg in the 40-minute contest, although the veteran driver managed to withstand the pressure from the GT3 rookie.

Johnny O’Connell completed the overall and SRO3 class podium in the No. 3 SKI Autosports Audi, ahead of points leader Jason Daskalos in the No. 27 CRP Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo in fourth.

Mirco Schultis completed the top-five, despite a spin in his Callaway Corvette C7 GT3-R while challenging Daskalos for fourth in the final ten minutes of the race.

Kyle Washington, who had an off-course excursion on the pace lap, and Tim Savage completed the SRO3 class finishing order.

GT4 class honors went to Isaac Sherman, who picked up his ninth victory of the season in the No. 099 Rotek Racing Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport.

Sherman got around Curt Swearingin on Lap 3 and drove to a 7.623-second win over the No. 7 ACI Motorsports Porsche, which took victory on Saturday.

Gray Newell bounced back from an opening-lap spin to claim third in the No. 25 Heart of Racing Team Aston Martin Vantage GT4.

RESULTS: Race 2
