SRO America will add a dedicated class for the Ginetta GTP8 in GT America powered by AWS competition next year, adding the British-built V8-powered race car to its growing array of eligibilities in the single Bronze-rated driver 40-minute format races.

The move is the “natural next step” for the Ginetta brand in North America, according to a statement after previous partnerships with SVRA and Trans Am to integrate its cars into the existing sports car-based championships.

Powered by a 6.2-liter LS3-based engine produced in-house, the GTP8, based on Ginetta’s proven G56 architecture, is capable of delivering 384 horsepower.

A GTP8 is on display at this weekend’s season-ending event at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

“Bringing our V8 to the United States marks an exciting new chapter for Ginetta,” said Ginetta Motorsport CEO Mike Simpson.

“SRO GT America is the perfect stage to showcase this car, which blends raw performance and accessibility with proven engineering.

“We’re proud to expand our footprint further into the world’s most dynamic motorsport market and offer American drivers and teams a genuine pathway into top level GT spec racing.”

SRO America President Greg Gill added: “We’re thrilled to welcome Ginetta and the GTP8 to the SRO America paddock.

“It underscores the continued growth and diversity of our GT America series, and their arrival marks an exciting step forward in broadening the opportunities available to North American drivers and teams within our GT platform.

“Ginetta’s commitment to delivering accessible, competitive racing aligns perfectly with SRO’s own mission, and the GTP8 brings a fresh new dimension to the grid and provides an exciting, attainable path for both aspiring and experienced competitors.

“We look forward to seeing them join our paddock and to watching this program thrive on American soil.”

The dedicated Ginetta class in GT America joins the existing SRO3 (GT3), GT2, GT4 categories, as well as the new-for-2025 Cup class for single-make machinery from Porsche, Ferrari and Lamborghini.
