Pirelli GT4 America heads to Barber Motorsports Park this weekend for its second-to-last event of the season, which could see at least one class title clinched in the three-category extended sprint race series.

ACI Motorsports’ Curt Swearingin and Kay van Berlo could walk away with the Pro-Am championship in hand following the pair of 60-minute races should they have a 50-point lead over Heart of Racing Team’s Gray Newell and Roman De Angelis.

Swearingin and van Berlo in the No. 7 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport currently have a 45-point advantage over the Aston Martin Vantage GT4 duo, meaning that a class win and a result ahead of the No. 24 Heart of Racing machine would be enough to lock up the championship two races early.

The battle for the Silver class is a bit more complex, with three driver pairings still mathematically in with a shot, led by RS1’s Eric Filgueiras and John Capestro-Dubets, who hold a 18-point lead over Kevin Bohem and Kenton Koch of Random Vandals Racing.

At 50 points back from the leader, AutoTechnic Racing’s Colin Garett and Zac Anderson hold an outside chance of the title with four races remaining.

The Am class title tightened up drastically following an opening-lap accident in Race 1 at Road America for the championship-leading No. 98 Random Vandals BMW M4 GT4 of Paul Sparta, who has been ruled out for the rest of the season due to a back injury.

Michael Kanisczak will sub for the team owner/driver alongside Kris Wilson, who has a narrow 13-point buffer to Rotek Racing’s Robb Holland and Jaden Lander in second.

Random Vandals will field a third BMW this weekend for the Pro-Am class pairing of Sam Craven and Josh Green, as part of an increased 28-car entry.

It includes the return of former Pro-Am class champions Jason Hart and Matt Travis in the No. 47 Nolasport Porsche, while Rodrigo Baptisa will be back in the No. 5 Flying Lizard Motorsports Nissan Z NISMO GT4 after missing the Road America races.

Toyota stock car driver Brent Crews will team up with Tyler Gonzalez in the No. 68 Smooge Racing Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO, meanwhile.

GT4 America cars will hit the 2.38-mile circuit on Friday for two practice sessions, followed by qualifying and Race 1 on Saturday and the second round on Sunday.

Both races will be streamed live on SRO’s GT World YouTube channel and on Twitch.
