Cicero, Dyszelski Claim First Career Poles at VIR

Nate Cicero and Danny Dyszelski split overall pole positions for this weekend’s Pirelli GT4 America races at Virginia International Raceway, each picking up their first career poles in series competition.

Cicero, filling in for Edward Killeen in the No. 37 Dome Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT4, stormed to a best lap of 1:54.405 to edge out the No. 23 Nolasport Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport of Matheus Leist by 0.101 seconds.

The Dome Mercedes-AMG is racing in the Silver class this weekend as a result of the driver change, while Leist scored Pro-Am class pole honors.

Alex Ellis qualified third overall and second in Silver in the No. 77 VPX Motorsport Porsche, followed by Matt Million’s Pro-Am class No. 53 Auto Technic Racing BMW M4 GT4 EVO and Kevin Boehm’s No. 97 Random Vandals Racing BMW, which completed the overall top-five.

BimmerWorld’s James Clay qualified on pole in the Am class in his No. 36 BMW, while the No. 413 Flying Lizard Motorsports BMW, which underwent a last-minute driver change from Craig Lumsden to Kris Wilson, was third in class.

Q2 saw Dyszelski set a benchmark 1:54.373 in his VPX Porsche to edge out Pro-Am class pole-sitter Michael Cooper in the No. 33 Blackdog Racing McLaren Artura GT4 by 0.076 seconds.

Luca Mars was just 0.001 seconds further behind in third, aboard the No. 39 Van der Steur Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT4 Evo, while ACI Motorsports teammates Ryan Yardley and Riley Dickinson completed the top-five overall.

Am pole honors again went to the No. 36 BimmerWorld entry, this time with co-driver Charlie Postins.

Race 1 is scheduled to get underway at 5 p.m. EST with live coverage on SRO’s GT World YouTube channel and on Twitch.
