Guy Cosmo and Patrick Byrne will complete the Pirelli GT4 America SprintX season with RENNtech Motorsports.
The driving duo, who had a one-off outing in SRO Motorsports America competition with TR3 Racing in the Blancpain GT World Challenge America round at Sonoma Raceway earlier this year, will co-drive a Mercedes-AMG GT4 in remaining GT4 SprintX races at Watkins Glen, Road America and Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
According to team boss Hartmut Feyhl, the Florida-based operation had been “holding out” for top tier drivers such as Cosmo and Byrne to finish out the GT4 America season.
RENNtech competed in the opening round of the season at Circuit of The Americas with Parker Chase and Reinhold Renger, nominated as a GT4 East entry, but has been absent since.
“Guy and Patrick are the perfect fit to take charge in the Pirelli GT4 America series,” Feyhl said. “With the backing of the RENNtech Motorsports team and our main sponsor Torxen, we are excited to bring out the best for the remaining races.”
Cosmo added: “Hartmut Feyhl is a good friend and someone I’ve known for a very long time now, with his outstanding reputation for his work in the automotive industry.
“Being local to me in Palm Beach County, it’s exciting to be racing for a team based close to home as well as being able to help RENNtech establish themselves with their new racing program.
“Teaming up with Patrick Byrne is always one of my favorite things to do when it comes time to go racing.
“Not only will he be a great addition to their program but I’m excited to see Patrick excel in this format.
“He gets faster every time he steps in a car and together with RENNtech and the Mercedes-AMG GT4 we should have a very competitive package.”
While Cosmo has experience with the Mercedes GT4 in IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge competition with Team TGM, it will mark Bryne’s debut at the wheel of German-built car.
“Guy has been driving this Mercedes machine in other series so his recent experience will also add to our arsenal,” Byrne said.
“Las Vegas is a bit of an unknown to all of us, but Watkins Glen and Road America are iconic driver tracks where, as drivers, we always look forward to the next contest.”
