Pirelli GT4 America SprintX will make its debut on the streets of Long Beach next year, having been confirmed as part of the 2020 Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach event.

A single 60-minute race, featuring pit stops and driver changes, will take place on Sunday April 19, filling one of several TBAs on the initial GT4 America schedule that was released last month.

As previously reported by Sportscar365, SRO Motorsports America had initially pushed for a round of the Blancpain GT World Challenge America for the Long Beach weekend until finding out it was unable to due to SRO’s new-for-2020 policy of no clashing events between its GT3 series.

The Blancpain GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup kicks off its season at Monza on the same weekend.

SRO’s GT4 America Sprint series held a single round at Long Beach this year, which was won by TRG’s Spencer Pumpelly.

“The Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach is one of the preeminent events on the motorsports calendar every year and we are excited to be bringing our Pirelli GT4 America SprintX series to the 2020 schedule,” said Greg Gill, President and CEO of SRO Motorsports America.

“To be able to say that you have won at Long Beach is an honor and I know our teams and drivers will be pushing hard to stand on the top step that day.”

“We are delighted to bring the GT4 America SprintX to Long Beach,” said Jim Michaelian, president and CEO of the Grand Prix Association of Long Beach.

“The driver-change format should make for some excitement for our fans, and the longer race will give everyone more on-track action as part of an enhanced Sunday schedule that we are putting together for the 2020 Acura Grand Prix.”

Several TBA still reman on the provisional GT4 America 2020 calendar, including events in May and October.
