Dickinson Leads ACI Porsche GT4 1-2 in Practice 1

Riley Dickinson led an ACI Motorsports 1-2 at the top of Practice 1 times as Pirelli GT4 America track action got underway at Virginia International Raceway on Friday.

Dickinson propelled the No. 7 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport he shares with Curt Swearingin to the top of the times in the final minutes, reeling off a 1:55.048 lap on his 15th of the team’s 16 laps in the session.

Stablemate Ryan Yardley, also in the Pro-Am class, wrapped up his first official practice session in Porsche GT4 machinery second-quickest in his and Damir Hot’s No. 25 entry, just 0.231 seconds of Dickinson’s pace.

Nolasport continued to show Porsche’s pace with the No. 23 entry of Matheus Leist and Michael Auriemma proving third-quickest overall and ahead of Silver class pace-setter Zac Anderson, who put in the session’s fourth fastest lap in the No. Auto Technic Racing BMW M4 GT4 EVO he co-drives with Colin Garrett.

Tyler McQuarrie rounded out the overall top-five fastest times in his Pro-Am class No. 82 BimmerWorld Racing BMW he shares with James Walker Jr.

Dome Motorsport’s Marc Miller and Nate Cicero were sixth-best and second-fastest in Silver aboard their No. 37 Mercedes-AMG GT4.

BimmerWorld set the Am class pace with Charlie Postins recording the 16th overall fastest lap ahead of Thunder Bunny Racing’s Allen Patten in the No. 606 Toyota Gazoo Racing GR Supra GT4 EVO2.

The 45-minute practice session ran entirely green, allowing drivers to record the maximum number of practice laps around the 3.27-mile road course.

During the session, however, both the No. 82 BimmerWorld BMW and the No. 72 RAFA Racing Team Toyota served stop-and-go penalties for pit lane speed infringements.

As the checkered flag fell, the No. 94 Random Vandals Racing BMW of Josh Green and Sam Craven was issued a five-minute stop-and-hold penalty to be served at the start of Practice 2, though no initial explanation was given for the penalty.

Practice 2 is scheduled for 5:15 p.m. EST this evening ahead of Saturday’s afternoon qualifying sessions and the start of racing action.
