Flying Lizard Motorsports has pulled the plug on its planned Nissan Z NISMO GT4 program in both Pirelli GT4 America and GT America powered by AWS due to “recent changes within the Nissan organization’s GT4 program.”

The Arizona-based team had plans to field the Nissan for Damir Hot and Rodrigo Baptista in SRO America competition for a second season, but had appeared on the entry list for both series’ season opening races at Sonoma Raceway with to-be-determined drivers.

Hot revealed on social media that he would not be racing the car this year when it became apparent after pre-season testing they couldn’t “safely compete” for wins.

“The team remains appreciative of its ongoing relationship with Nissan/NISMO and is proud of the achievements and results attained throughout the 2024 season,” a statement from Flying Lizard read.

“As Flying Lizard continues to assess the future direction of their GT4 programs and their customers, [program manager Darren] Law is actively evaluating the team’s most competitive options for 2025 and beyond.”

With Flying Lizard having had been the only remaining Nissan GT4 customer in SRO America following the withdrawal of development team TechSport and a move to McLaren Artura GT4 machinery for Blackdog Racing, it’s understood the race car will not appear in the North America market this year.

Sportscar365 has reached out to a Nissan spokesperson for further clarification on the Z NISMO GT4’s future activities in the region.

Confirmation of Flying Lizard’s withdrawal results in a 30-car GT4 America grid for this weekend’s season-opener at Sonoma Raceway, and 16 cars for GT America action.
