Reigning Toyota GR Cup North America champion Westin Workman will graduate to Pirelli GT4 America competition as part of RAFA Racing Team’s multi-car Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2 effort.

Confirmed on Wednesday, Workman, who is already part of the team’s IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge effort, will team up with Tyler Gonzlez in the SRO America-run series.

Workman replaces Gresham Wagner in the team’s No. 68 Silver class lineup.

Chris Spada and Werner Neugebauer, meanwhile, will pilot the No. 812 Toyota in Pro-Am, while Kenny Schmied and Anthony Geraci are set to scale back to a limited season program in Am, with Rafael Martinez joining Geraci for the three-hour Lone Star Enduro at Circuit of The Americas.

Workman currently leads the VP Racing Challenge GSX class championship standings after taking four wins out of the four opening races.

“I think it’ll be great coming together with Tyler as my teammate,” he said.

“He obviously has a lot of experience in the GR Supra, and I think I’ll be able to piggyback off of that.

“The last thing I want to be is the weak link of the equation. So I’m hoping I can lean on him for data, video, how to drive the car, the little intricacies of the car, the different tracks we’re going to.

“He’s a really strong asset to have on the team for me and everybody around.”

While the pair have previously competed against each other, Gonzalez believes that shared experience will only strengthen their working relationship.

“We’ve always competed against each other, so it’s going to be interesting to work together,” said Gonzalez.

“I think what we learn on track racing against each other helps us build the relationship racing with each other – as far as racecraft, tendencies. We kind of know what to look for and how to help each other out.”

Schmied and Geraci, who undertook a full season last year, will contest three weekends together in the team’s third entry, with Martinez joining Geraci for COTA, for the team’s home race.

The GT4 America season kicks off at Sonoma Raceway on March 26-28.
