The 2022 BMW M4 GT3 registered the fastest lap of the official two-day test for next month’s TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Spa.
A guest entry for the test only, the pre-homologation BMW model was at Spa to gather data ahead of its global customer rollout next year in multiple championships including those run by 24H Spa organizer SRO Motorsports Group.
Nick Yelloly, who shared driving duties with Augusto Farfus and Marco Wittmann, set the leading car’s quickest lap time of 2:17.986.
The Brit ended up six-tenths clear of Timo Glock in the second-placed No. 35 Walkenhorst Motorsport BMW M6 GT3, which was counted as the top 24H Spa competitor.
The top seven cars in the five-hour Wednesday afternoon session undercut the previous overall benchmark set by Wittmann in the No. 34 Walkenhorst car earlier in the day.
Wednesday offered the best conditions for lower lap times after heavy rain fell during the opening day.
KCMG’s Tuesday pace-setting No. 18 Porsche 911 GT3 R ended up third overall on a 2:18.646 set on day two, ahead of the Silver Cup-leading Winward Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo.
CMR’s Bentley Continental GT3 completed the top-five, narrowly beating the Mercedes-AMGs from Haupt Racing Team’s No. 4 crew and the Toksport WRT squad.
Wittmann’s morning time of 2:18.798 made the No. 34 Walkenhorst BMW the eighth-fastest car of the test.
The quickest Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo was the No. 25 Sainteloc Racing machine which finished eighth on Wednesday afternoon and ninth overall.
Huber Motorsport’s Porsche led Am Cup and also placed in the top ten during the final session of the event.
