Wright Motorsports could undertake a full-season Intercontinental GT Challenge effort in 2027, with team owner/driver Adam Adelson and longtime co-driver Elliott Skeer set to take their first steps next year in pursuing their Nordschleife A-Permits, while also exploring options of taking part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the future.

The Ohio-based team, which made its overseas debut in this year’s CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa, finishing fourth in the Gold Cup class, also took part in the GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup round at the Nürburgring with Adelson, Skeer and Porsche Motorsport North America Selected Driver Tom Sargent.

With an re-expansion into GT World Challenge America powered by AWS in the plans for next year, Wright chief operating officer Bobby Viglione indicated the team may take a slight step back from European competition in 2025 in order to ramp up towards a global GT3 program the following year.

“We haven’t finalized European or international stuff for next year,” Viglione told Sportscar365. “I think we’re looking to focus a little more domestically in 2026.

“There will be something in Europe but it’s not going to be at the scale of what we did this year.

“I know Adam really wants to get his NLS license, so I don’t know what that’s going to look like. Him and Elliott are going to do that in some capacity.

“But we’re going to focus, as a team domestically, on [IMSA] GTD and SRO [America] and some of the business.

“We have some pretty big shop renovation projects in the mix at the moment.

“In 2027, I can’t say what it would be, but 2027 will be a big international program.”

Viglione indicated that IGTC, which encompasses world renowned GT endurance races at Bathurst, Nürburgring, Spa and Suzuka, would make the most sense but stressed that a decision has not been taken.

Wright is also exploring options on how to make its debut at Le Mans.

“I’d say IGTC and obviously, like any driver, wants to do the [other] bucket list races like Le Mans. A path to that when [Adam’s] a Silver is difficult,” said Viglione.

“There’s a few different paths we have to do. He wants to be as close to a pro as he can be and there’s a lot of things he has to personally work on.”

A return to the 24 Hours of Spa next year, meanwhile, appears unlikely, as it clashes with the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen, which Adelson and the team are committed to for a full-season GTD program.

“The problem we would face, there, the clash would play a big role,” said Viglione. “If they stick to clashes like Spa 24 Hours with some IMSA races, it doesn’t work.

“At the end, no one can clash with Daytona. No one can clash with Sebring. No one can clash with Le Mans. No one can clash with [24H] Spa.

“Then everyone has to organize their calendar around that.”
