Luke Youlden has been added to the lineup of the Supabarn Racing Mercedes-AMG for next February’s Meguiar’s Bathurst 12 Hour.
The 2017 Bathurst 1000 winner joins brothers James and Theo Koundouris and David Russell at the wheel of the Tigani Motorsport-run team’s Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo for the Intercontinental GT Challenge opener on Feb. 2.
It will mark Supabarn’s second Bathurst 12H outing with Mercedes-AMG machinery, with the Wollongong-based outfit finishing third in the Silver class this year.
Since then, the Koundouris brothers have embarked on a full Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS campaign, finishing third in the Am category.
Youlden moves across from the Valmont Audi crew, also run by Tigani, that finished second in class in this year’s Bathurst 12H, effectively replacing Jonathan Webb.
“The 2024 race was a really challenging event with the weather and all the usual drama thrown at us across the day,” said team owner Nathan Tigani.
“Still for our first attempt at the race with the Supabarn Mercedes-AMG to come home with third position in the Silver class was a great result.
“That coupled with a very strong Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia season with the car and drivers both performing really well, puts us in a strong position going into the race this year.
“David is an absolute professional and one of the quickest guys to have on your side and adding Luke’s experience to the team only makes the package even stronger.
“We have all the pieces of the puzzle in place to have a really strong weekend next February.”
