Jesse Webb and Jason Hart have secured pole positions for this weekend’s Pirelli GT4 America season-opening rounds at Sonoma Raceway.
Qualifying 1 saw the No. 34 Conquest Racing/JMF Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT4 of Webb storm to a best lap of 1:45.970.
The Silver class entry edged out the Pro-Am pole-sitting No. 47 Nolasport Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport of Matt Travis by 0.055 seconds.
The No. 19 ACI Motorsports Porsche of Francis Selldorff and Andrew Davis will start third, followed by the No. 51 Auto Technic BMW M4 GT4 in fourth.
Copeland Motorsports’ Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO completed the top-five overall.
Am class pole honors for Race 1 went to the No. 36 BimmerWorld entry of Charlie Postins, with the No. 20 Carrus Callas Raceteam Toyota of Terry Borcheller qualifying on class pole for Race 2.
Up front in Q2, Hart’s 1:44.263 lap time in the No. 47 Nolasport entry led a Porsche 1-2, with Kay van Berlo second overall and in class in the No. 7 ACI Motorsports entry, which led Friday’s second practice session.
John Geesbreght put the No. 68 Smooge Racing Toyota on pole in the Silver class for Race 2 with the third quickest time overall, followed by Billy Johnson’s No. 069 Archangel Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage GT4 in fourth.
An issue with the lack of driver IDs in the series’ new timing and scoring system caused confusion in qualifying, with series representatives unable to confirm which driver set the times in their cars.
Sportscar365 has verified the overall pole-sitters for both races.
Race 1 gets underway at 4:50 p.m. PT (7:50 p.m. ET) with live coverage on SRO’s GT World YouTube page and its Twitch channel.
