Reiter Takes Over Marco Polo Race Operations

Reiter Engineering has taken over race operations of Marco Polo Motorsports, beginning with this weekend’s Pirelli GT4 America round at Virginia International Raceway.

The German squad will make its return to the SRO America paddock for the first time since 2015 when running in what was known as Pirelli World Challenge with its self-built Lamborghini Gallardo R-EX GT3 car.

Following Nicolai Elghanayan and Mads Siljehaug’s recent success in Europe with the team in Creventic 24H Series competition, Reiter will now provide “race event support” to the Marco Polo’s KTM X-Bow GT4 Evo.

Previous trackside operational partner Muellerized will continue to service and prep the car before and after each event at its California location.

Marco Polo had initially planned to contest only a limited season of GT4 America this year prior to confirming a full-season campaign last month.

The Hans Reiter-led organization serves as the constrictor of KTM’s GT4, GT2 and GTX-based race cars. 

“Now with having Reiter Engineering crew on track with Marco Polo Motorsports, we are really going in for top performance to improve our results from last year,” said Siljehaug.

“I hope the fans will brave the weather to come out, and that we can put on a good show for them in the KTM X-Bow.”

Elghanayan and Siljehaug are tied for third in Silver Cup standings heading into this weekend’s pair of 60-minute races.

The 2020 outing at VIR marked the team’s debut of the new KTM X-Bow GT4 Evo, which was highlighted by a top-five finish over the course of the triple-header weekend.

“I am really looking forward to VIR,” said Elghanayan. “This is such a great track, and it’s the perfect location for our first race back with fans.

“I have not had a successful weekend here yet and am eager to change that.

“Mads and I have been doing a lot of racing overseas in the 24H series and will be taking advantage of all the seat time we’ve had this season to carry it into the GT4 Series here in the U.S.”

The driver pairing head to VIR on the heels of a podium finish in last month’s Hankook 12H Hockenheimring with a Reiter-run KTM X-Bow GTX Concept.
