SRO Motorsports Group has announced a new joint venture with the Thailand Super Series as it continues to expand its presence in the Asian region.

TSS, which was founded in 2013 and features a wide range of machinery from FIA GT3s to so-called ‘Super Eco’ cars like the Suzuki Swift and Toyota Yaris, will adopt SRO’s Balance of Performance for its GT3 and GT4 categories as part of the tie-up.

It will also switch from Hankook to Pirelli tires, a move that puts in line with the various GT World Challenge powered by AWS series operated worldwide by SRO.

The move comes as TSS prepares to welcome more recent GT3 models such as the Ferrari 296 GT3 and 992-generation Porsche 911 GT3 R this season.

GT3 and GT4 cars compete under the ‘TSS The Super Series’ banner together with ‘GTM’ cars, essentially Ferrari and Porsche Cup cars along with the V8-powered Toyota GR Supra GTM, and a ‘GTC’ category that houses a variety of cars including older Cup machinery and exotica such as the locally-built Ford RR Daytona GT Coupe.

SRO founder and CEO Stephane Ratel commented: “I am very happy to begin this new partnership with TSS The Super Series.

“SRO has made great strides in Asia over the past decade and this agreement further solidifies our position.

“We are delighted that TSS will adopt our Balance of Performance regulations, and it is very pleasing to see them forge a partnership with Pirelli, with whom SRO has worked closely for many years.

“I am sure that this marks the start of an exciting phase of development for TSS The Super Series.”

This year’s TSS calendar is made up of five rounds, kicking off at Buriram on May 23-25, visiting the Bangsaen street circuit in July and Sepang in Malaysia twice across August and September before concluding at Buriram in early November.

An official two-day test took place at Buriram last month, with 106 cars taking to the track across all the various classes.
