Westin Workman stormed to pole position for Race 1 of the Toyota GR Cup North America weekend at Barber Motorsports Park after first qualifying on Saturday morning.
The BSI Racing driver leaped to the top of the time sheets on his fourth lap around the 2.38-mile Alabama circuit, reeling off a 1:36.926 lap in the No. 13 Toyota GR86 Cup Car.
Workman was the only driver in the session to dip below the 1-minute and 37-second benchmark, narrowly edging out TechSport’s Ethan Goulart by 0.186 seconds.
Parker DeLong put two TechSport Toyotas in the top three, going third-quickest in his No. 47 machine, just 0.001 seconds off of his teammate’s fastest lap.
Jeremy Fletcher was fourth fastest overall for Copeland Motorsports, just ahead of Max Schweid’s No. 98 TechSport Toyota in fifth.
RVA Graphics Motorsports by Speed Syndicate’s Will Robusto was the sixth fastest driver, with Lucas Weisenberg in seventh and RVA’s Spike Kohlbecker in eighth.
Meanwhile, Jackson Tovo finished ninth in qualifying for Nitro Motorsports, and Jaxson Bell rounded out the overall top ten for Copeland.
Qualifying margins were as fine as ever as the field of 22 set the grid for Race 1, with the top 12 drivers finishing the session within one second of Workman’s pole time.
Qualifying 1 ran entirely green with no major interruptions or issues of note.
Race 1 of the GR Cup weekend takes the green flag at 1:40 p.m. CST on Saturday, with live streaming coverage available on SRO’s GT World YouTube channel and on Twitch.
