Both the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R and Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo have received weight breaks ahead of today’s Indianapolis 8 Hour presented by AWS, with no major changes to either of the leading BMW M4 GT3 EVO or Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evos.
Confirmed in a Balance of Performance update from SRO Motorsports Group on Saturday morning, the Corvette has received a 25kg weight break, with the Aston able to shed 20kgs for the Intercontinental GT Challenge and GT World Challenge America powered by AWS season finale.
Additionally, the Corvette has had its minimum rear wing angle reduced from 6.6 to 5.5 degrees, along with a minimum rear wing position change.
While the Aston has received a slight power reduction at the mid-range levels, three additional GT3 models have had power adjustments as well, including the BMW, which gets a minor cut between the 6500 to 7500 RPM range.
The Ferrari 296 GT3, meanwhile, gets a slight power increase at the top-end of the power curve, while the McLaren 720S GT3 Evo gets some help from the low-to-mid range.
No changes have been made to the Mercedes-AMG, which will start on pole with the Lone Star Racing example after the No. 51 Random Vandals BMW was found to have been underweight in post-qualifying technical inspection.
The Indianapolis 8 Hour gets underway at 12:20 p.m. EST with live coverage on SRO’s GT World YouTube channel.
