Jeff Courtney will start this afternoon’s Pirelli World Challenge GTS Sprint race from the pole, after taking his Maserati GT4 to the top spot in qualifying Saturday at Virginia International Raceway.
Courtney reeled off a best lap of 1:55.144 in the 15-minute session, narrowly edging out the No. 13 ANSA Motorsports KTM X-Bow GT4 of Nico Jamin by just 0.007 seconds.
It marked pole for Courtney in his first start of the season after missing Rounds 1 and 2 at St. Pete.
Rodrigo Baptista qualified third in the No. 3 Flying Lizard Motorsports Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR, followed by Friday’s pace-setting No. 8 KTM of Anthony Mantella in fourth.
The No. 10 Blackdog Speed Shop Camaro GT4.R of Lawson Aschenbach completed the top-five, with Martin Barkey set to line up sixth on the No. 80 Mantella KTM.
Jason Bell, meanwhile, grabbed top qualifying honors in GTS-A, setting the seventh quickest time overall in his Racer’s Edge Motordports SIN R1 GT4.
The first of the 50-minute GTS Sprint races gets underway at 2:10 p.m. ET.
