The No. 8 Flying Lizard Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo of Elias Sabo and Andy Lee has withdrawn from the second Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS race of the weekend at Virginia International Raceway over Balance of Performance concerns.

The move comes after the Pro-Am entry finished fifth in class on Saturday after an early-race off-course excursion by Sabo.

A team statement read: “Due to factors beyond our control affecting the Balance of Performance of our GT3 Aston Martin, our customer has decided to withdraw from the final race of the GT World Challenge America series at Virginia International Raceway.

“We have engaged in numerous discussions during the VIR event with both the manufacturer and the series regarding differences in Balance of Performance adjustments between the United States and Europe.

“Unfortunately, we have not been able to achieve a satisfactory resolution.”

SRO America declined to comment on the matter when reached by Sportscar365.

It has resulted in a 12-car starting field for this afternoon’s race, which started at 2:15 p.m. EDT.
