Mercedes-AMG has confirmed the lineups for its supported and customer entries in next month’s Intercontinental GT Challenge season-ending Indianapolis 8 Hour.
The German manufacturer will have eight Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evos on the grid for the fifth round of the IGTC season, which doubles as the season finale for GT World Challenge America powered by AWS.
Four cars are expected to race in the Pro class, led by Mercedes-AMG Team Lone Star Racing and Mercedes-AMG Team GMR, both of which have been forced to adapt its driving rosters to include a Silver-rated driver, per GTWC America Pro class regulations.
Unlike previous editions of the race, there is no dedicated IGTC Pro category.
Iron Lynx FIA World Endurance Championship driver Lin Hodenius, who made his Indianapolis Motor Speedway debut in last weekend’s Battle on the Bricks IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship enduro, will be Lone Star Racing’s nominated Silver, alongside factory aces Jules Gounon and Maxime Martin.
DTM rookie, and fellow Silver-rated pilot, Tom Kalender will make his debut with GruppeM Racing, with Maro Engel and Luca Stolz completing the lineup.
Stolz is the highest-placed Mercedes-AMG driver in the IGTC points standings, although is already mathematically ruled out of winning the season-long drivers’ title, the same being the case for the brand in the manufacturers’ championship, which will go to either BMW or Porsche.
GTWC America regulars JMF Motorsports, meanwhile, will add factory ace Lucas Auer to its full season lineup of Mikael Grenier and Michai Stephens.
A fourth Pro entry is expected to be fielded by 75 Express, with the Kenny Habul-led squad poised to switch classes from Pro-Am in order to increase Bronze-rated driver Habul’s chances of winning the IGTC Independent Cup.
It will, however, come with an adjusted, yet-to-be-announced lineup from what Habul originally had planned in Yannick Mettler and Adam Christodoulou.
In Pro-Am, Toby Sowery will complete CrowdStrike by Riley’s squad that features George Kurtz and Colin Braun, while Daan Arrow will join Philip Ellis and Jeff Burton in the Regulator Racing Mercedes-AMG.
A third driver in CRP Racing’s entry, alongside full-season GTWC America drivers Jason Daskalos and Isaac Sherman, has yet to be announced.
