The Pro class championship battle in GT World Challenge America powered by AWS is heating up entering this weekend’s Crown Coins Casino GT World at Road America.

With a sweep of the weekend last time out at Virginia International Raceway, the RS1 duo of Jan Heylen and Alex Sedgwick have closed to within 14 points of Random Vandals Racing’s Kenton Koch and Connor De Phillippi.

Heylen and GT3 newcomer Sedgwick, in the No. 18 RS1 Porsche 911 GT3 R, have only been off the podium once this season and carry momentum into the pair of 90-minute races at the four-mile Wisconsin circuit.

JMF Motorsports’ Michai Stephens and Mikael Grenier, meanwhile, sit only a further six points behind in third aboard their No. 34 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo entry, which is riding three consecutive podiums.

A total of 16 cars are entered for Rounds 9 and 10 of the season, in an identical entry list to that from VIR.

The Pro-Am championship fight has gone in favor of Turner Motorsport, following Robby Foley and Justin Rothberg’s double class win in Virginia.

Foley and Rothberg, drivers of the No. 29 BMW M4 GT3 EVO, hold a growing 44-point lead over second-placed Blake McDonald and Matt Bell of DXDT Racing.

Sister squad Regulator Racing sits third with Jeff Burton and Philip Ellis, who have so far picked up two class wins and a pair of runner-up finishes this season but lost significant ground in the title race following a weekend to forget in VIR.

With both the No. 163 AF Corse Ferrari 296 GT3 of Ozz Negri and Jay Schreibman, as well as the No. 6 Dollahite Racing Ford Mustang GT3 driven by Scott Dollahite and Eric Powell each claiming a win and second place finishes in Virginia, Dollahite and the AF Corse duo remain tied for the Am class championship lead, all on 136 points.

VIR will mark the first time this season that Dollahite will have a returning co-driver, in former TC America powered by Skip Barber Racing School champion Powell.

A pair of test sessions kick off track action on Thursday, with two practice sessions on tap for Friday, followed by qualifying Saturday morning and Race 1, scheduled for a 3:15 p.m. CST start time. Race 2 gets underway Sunday at 2:45 p.m.

Both races will be streamed live on SRO’s GT World YouTube channel, on Twitch as well as aired live on the RACER Network.
