Pirelli World Challenge heads North of the Border this weekend for the third round of the Sprint season, with a season-low ten-car GT entry.
When combined with the 24 GTS/GTA cars that are set to do battle in separate 50-minute, single-driver races, it adds up to 34 total entries for the Victoria Day Speedfest at the classic Canadian venue.
ENTRY LIST: CTMP
The reduced GT entry comes following a 14-car GT/GTA field in the most recent Sprint race at Long Beach, which saw one-off entries from GMG Racing, TruSpeed Autosport and Black Swan Racing.
Additional entries, however, have been present for the SprintX events.
Despite the depleted field, the battle for the GT overall championship has remained fierce, with Pfaff Motorsports’ Scott Hargrove having extended his advantage over Toni Vilander, of R. Ferri Motorsport at last month’s SprintX round at Virginia International Raceway.
The pairing are separated by ten points heading into CTMP in the overall standings and 12 points in the Sprint championship.
K-PAX Racing, which broke through for its first overall win of the season at VIR with Rodrigo Baptista and Maxime Soulet, will be looking to get its season back on track with its No. 9 Bentley Continental GT3 entry of Alvaro Parente, who was forced out of the most recent weekend due to a crash on the opening lap of Race 1.
Despite initial spare parts concerns, the Portuguese driver is listed to drive this weekend.
Daniel Morad (CRP Racing), Daniel Mancinelli (TR3 Racing) and Michael Christensen (Alegra Motorsports) completes the GT field, with Parker Chase (TruSpeed), Yuki Harata (Dream Racing) and Martin Fuentes (Scuderia Corse Garage Italia) in GTA alongside Baptista.
24 Cars for Second GTS Sprint Round of Season
The GTS class features a 24-car entry this weekend, with the majority of entries again being in GTSA.
It will mark only the second points-paying Sprint round of the season, following the season-opener in St. Pete in March and the invite-only race at Long Beach to supplement the GT field.
Track action kicks off on Thursday with a Promoter Test Day, with a pair of practice sessions for both classes scheduled for Friday.
