The second half of the Pirelli World Challenge season kicks off this weekend at Road America, in the first combined GT and GTS Sprint event of the year.

A total of 40 cars are on the entry list for the pair of 50-minute, single-driver races, which will run as part of a packed weekend of racing that also includes the Verizon IndyCar Series.

Fourteen GT3-spec cars, along with a Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo entered by Dream Racing, will do battle in GT, with several notable additions and changes since the last Sprint round at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

Following his recent success, which included an overall victory at Virginia International Raceway, Rodrigo Baptista has been promoted to the GT class.

The Brazilian’s No. 3 Bentley Continental GT3 will line up alongside K-PAX Racing’s sister entry of Alvaro Parente, in a now two-car full pro operation.

It also results in a seven-car field in the top class.

The GTA category, meanwhile, sees several additions for Road America, including the return of Wright Motorsports, with Anthony Imperato at the wheel of its Porsche 911 GT3 R.

Andy Wilzoch, meanwhile, will also make his first start of the season in a Flying Lizard Motorsports-entered Porsche, with Larry De George also listed to compete at Road America in a DXDT Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3.

The GTS field, which typically features standalone races, will join the GT competitors this weekend, although is expected to be in separated state.

A total of 24 cars, split between GTS and GTSA, are entered.

Track action at the four-mile circuit gets underway on Friday, with the pair of races scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.
