Elliott Skeer led the way in opening practice for this weekend’s Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS rounds at Virginia International Raceway.
Skeer, in the No. 120 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R, laid down a best time of 1:44.261 in the 60-minute session, edging out the No. 91 DXDT Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo of Corey Lewis by 0.019 seconds.
The Pro-Am class Type-991.2 Porsche continued to show strong form following a sweep of the weekend last time out at Circuit of The Americas.
Robby Foley was third quickest in the No. 096 Turner Motorsports BMW M4 GT3, which is making its return to series competition, with Colin Braun and Ryan Dalziel completing the top-five for CrowdStrike by Riley and Triarsi Competizione, respectively.
The No. 45 Wright Porsche of Jan Heylen was sixth on the time charts, followed by Bryan Sellers’ No. 08 DXDT Mercedes and the No. 38 ST Racing BMW, which features Neil Verhagen this weekend.
Racers Edge Motorsports’ Acura NSX GT3 Evo22 of Mario Farnbacher and Ashton Harrison was the quickest Pro class entry in ninth overall, meanwhile.
The second and final practice session of the day gets underway at 3:15 p.m. EDT.
