SRO America Confirms Open Paddock for VIR

Next month’s SRO America event at Virginia International Raceway will welcome fans back into the paddock for the first time since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, with series and track officials confirming open access to ticketed spectators.

It will mark the first professional sports car racing event in the U.S. to re-open fan access to the paddock.

Any possible COVID-19 protocols for fans have not yet been outlined by the series or track.

Up until the most recent round at Circuit of The Americas, SRO America competitors had been required to wear face coverings at all times and socially distance where possible.

The June 4-6 event at VIR will feature Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS, Pirelli GT4 America, GT America powered by AWS, TC America powered by Skip Barber Racing School, Porsche Sprint Challenge North America as well as Rounds 3 and 4 of Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America, which has been recently added to the weekend.

Tickets for the Operation Motorsport and USO “Salute to Service Weekend” can be purchased here. All active duty military will receive free admission, with a 50 percent off discount for veterans. 

SRO America recently announced Operation Motorsport as its Official Veteran charity for the 2021 season.
