SRO Motorsports America has confirmed a reduced six-round schedule for GT World Challenge America next year, with the elimination of the Circuit of The Americas event from the provisional calendar, which was released in July.
The COTA event had initially been listed in a to-be-confirmed March/April date on the schedule that was communicated to teams earlier this year.
As announced by SRO founder and CEO Stephane Ratel during Sunday’s SRO Awards night in Las Vegas, the 2020 schedule will feature one fewer weekend, and not kicking off until mid-May at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
It will be followed by trips to Virginia International Raceway, Sonoma Raceway, Road America, Watkins Glen International before concluding with an eight-hour round at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, as part of the Intercontinental GT Challenge powered by Pirelli round.
No mention was made in Friday’s GT World Challenge America schedule announcement about the elimination of the Pro class, which was confirmed by Ratel at the banquet.
