USAC, the sanctioning body of Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS, has upheld the steward’s decision regarding the penalty applied to the No. 38 ST Racing BMW M4 GT3 in last month’s second race at Sebring International Raceway.

The Neil Verhagen and Samantha Tan-driven entry, which initially crossed the line in first, was moved to the rear of the Pro-Am results in Race 2 after the car was found “non-compliant” at impound by scrutineers post-race.

It was then followed by an appeal made by the Canadian team, lodged to the sanctioning body, which was heard on Monday.

As confirmed by USAC’s Court of Appeal, the car was outside the boost limits outlined in the 2023 SRO technical regulations and Balance of Performance tables published for the event.

“The court reviewed submissions provided by ST Racing but determined that findings driven by team data supplied were uncontrolled by SRO were unofficial and couldn’t support the appeal,” a statement from the decision read.

“The measurement tools used by the series are considered official, and results derived from their use are considered the only official results as per SRO regulations.”

SRO America published the final results for Race 2 on Wednesday on the Fanatec GT noticeboard, ahead of this weekend’s title-deciding Indianapolis 8 Hour. As a result, points from the Pro-Am class are now also official.
