The No. 34 Walkenhorst Motorsport BMW M6 GT3 posted the quickest average time in qualifying, putting the German squad in prime position for this evening’s Pole Shootout for the Indianapolis 8 Hour.
Connor De Phillippi, Nick Catsburg and Augusto Farfus combined for a 1:23.197 average, edging out the No. 30 JAS Motorsport Acura NSX GT3 Evo of Dane Cameron, Mario Farnbacher and Renger van der Zande by 0.047 seconds.
The No. 7 K-PAX Racing Bentley Continental GT3 recorded the third quickest time ahead of the sister Walkenhorst BMW in fourth and the No 93 Racers Edge Motorsports Acura, which paced Pre-Qualifying.
Other GT3 cars to advance to Pole Shootout include the No. 31 Team Hardpoint WRT Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo, No. 20 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R, No. 6 Vital Speed Ferrari 488 GT3, No. 1 Squadra Corse Ferrari and No. 63 DXDT Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo.
The No 75 SunEnergy1 Racing Mercedes Evo will start tomorrow’s Intercontinental GT Challenge powered by Pirelli round from 11th on the grid after missing the Pole Shootout by 0.048 seconds.
DXDT’s No. 04 Mercedes Evo, meanwhile, qualified down the running order with issues during its run.
GT4 class pole honors has gone to the No. 8 GMG Racing Audi R8 LMS GT4 of James Sofonas, Andy Lee and Elias Sabo, thanks to a 1:31.330 combined average.
The No. 33 Notlad by RS1 Aston Martin Vantage GT4 will start second in class followed by the No. 69 BGB Motorsports Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport in third.
