Wright Motorsports will field a total of three Porsche 911 GT3 R Evos across SRO America competition this year, having confirmed a second full season GT World Challenge America powered by AWS entry as well as a car in GT America powered by AWS.
It comes in addition to the Ohio-based team’s initial announcement that Porsche Sprint Challenge North America graduate and Porsche Mobil 1 Female Driver Program member Therese Lahlouh will make her first full season GT3 campaign.
Confirmed on Wednesday, Lahlouh will be joined in the Pro-Am class Porsche by her longtime coach and co-driver Thomas Merrill in the No. 242 entry, which has yet to reveal its livery.
Reigning Porsche Carrera Cup North America champion Ryan Yardley, who recently made his Rolex 24 at Daytona debut, meanwhile, will spearhead the team’s second Porsche, also in the Pro-Am ranks, with Dave Musial Jr sharing driving duties.
Dave Musial Sr., meanwhile, will take part in GT America competition in Wright’s No. 72 Porsche.
The Porsche Motorsport North America Selected Driver teamed with the father-and-son Musial pairing in Muehlner Motorsport’s Porsche last month at Daytona, which served as a foundation to the new season-long program.
“I’m super excited to be joining Wright Motorsports for the GT World Challenge America championship,” said Yardley.
“It’s awesome to be continuing my relationship with Dave Musial Jr. and to be teaming up once again.
“I’m really looking forward to the step up from Carrera Cup into GT3 competition. Sonoma can’t come soon enough.”
Dave Musial Jr. added: “We wanted to position ourselves with the very best, and we truly believe Wright is second to none.
“Their experience with the Porsche 911 GT3 R is unmatched, and what really stood out is that Adam Adelson isn’t just the team owner—he’s a hardcore racer like we are.
“He understands what it takes to win and how much of a team effort it is.”
“We evaluated a number of teams and completed testing, and we were honestly blown away by Wright Motorsports,” Musial Sr. added. “The professionalism, preparation, and execution are next level.”
The upcoming campaign will mark Lahlouh’s second year working with Merrill, a former Rolex 24 class winner.
“Therese has worked really hard and come a long way in the past couple seasons to prepare for this next step in her career path,” said Merrill.
“It’ll be a lot of fun to watch her continued growth in GT3 machinery. Adam, Bobby, and everyone at Wright are the cream of the crop and have been awesome to work with so far.
“Their knowledge of the Porsche GT3 R Evo from their IMSA program will help us get up to speed quickly.”
