The Oman Racing Racing Team Aston Martin V12 Vantage of Jonny Adam, Daniel Lloyd and Ahmad Al Harthy was quickest in Tuesday’s Bronze Test for the Total 24 Hours of Spa.
The Pro Am Cup-entered Aston Martin was one of several cars to put in a quick time in the final moments, before the three-hour session was cut short five minutes from the end.
The sole ROWE Racing Mercedes (Pro Cup) of Nico Bastian went second fastest (+0.019s), in front of the Triple Eight Racing BMW Z4 GT3 (+0.174s).
The quickest Am Cup car was the Team Parker Racing Audi R8 LMS ultra in P15 (+1.551s). The top-seven were separated by less than one-second.
In an effort to improve the safety of the event, the session was moved from Friday afternoon to Tuesday and extended to three hours this year.
It was mandatory for all Bronze and Silver drivers, as well as for any Gold or Platinum drivers with no experience of the track.
During the session, driver performance was examined and supervised, with Vincent Vosse and Bas Leinders helping out during the mandatory briefing and in overseeing the session.
