After four hours the No. 1 Audi Sport Team WRT Audi R8 LMS leads the Total 24 Hours of Spa, now with Belgian driver Laurens Vanthoor behind the wheel of the car.
Rain early in the third hour resulted in a full course yellow, but it was too late for the No. 73 MRS GT Racing Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 as it aquaplaned off the track.
One lap later, the No. 3 Belgian Audi Club Team WRT Audi R8 LMS ultra and the No. 53 AF Corse Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 crashed, which brought out the third safety car of the race.
BMW Sports Trophy Team Marc VDS team principal Bas Leinders was quoted saying there had been a green flag without warning, causing the crash.
At the end of lap 49, forty minutes after the safety car period had started, the race was resumed, with track conditions steadily improving as it had stopped raining.
There was no major drama after that, although a spin at the Raidillon for No. 70 GT Russian Team Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 of Alexey Karachev resulted in another, brief, full cours yellow.
After four hours Vanthoor led from Gregory Guilvert in the No. 35 Sainteloc Audi R8 LMS ultra and the No. 45 BMW Sports Trophy Team Marc VDS BMW Z4 GT3 of Augusto Farfus.
The No. 78 Team Russia by Barwell BMW Z4 GT3 leads Pro-Am after four hours.
