The Blancpain Sprint Series will feature its largest starting grid to date, as it heads to Circuit Zolder for the penultimate round of the season.

The 21 regular cars will be joined by the Beechdean AMR Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 of Jonny Adam and Andy Soucek, and a Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 of GT Russian Team.

Both teams are looking to gain experience in the series before shipping their equipment to Azerbaijan for the Baku World Challenge, taking place two weeks later.

The GT Russian Team Mercedes of Seyffarth Motorsport will be driven by Alexey Vasiliev and platinum-rated Marko Asmer. The team makes its Sprint Series debut after competing in the final two rounds of the Endurance Series.

After making his GT3 debut in the Nürburgring 1000, Stephane Richelmi replaces Fabian Hamprecht behind the wheel of the No. 9 Belgian Audi Club Team WRT, where he’ll team up with his countryman and reigning champion Stéphane Ortelli in Zolder and Baku.

Alessandro Balzan will make his second outing in the series on the No. 90 Scuderia Villorba Corse Ferrari, substituting for Andrea Montermini.

Czech driver Tomas Pivoda joins Stefan Landmann on the No. 27 Grasser Racing Racing Team Lamborghini, as Sascha Halek will be absent due to injury.

With two Silver rated drivers, the car won’t be eligible to score points in the Pro-Am Trophy, giving Marc Basseng and Alessandro Latif a good opportunity to clinch the title in their No. 5 Phoenix Racing Audi one race early.

Championship leader Maximilian Götz (No. 84 HTP Mercedes) heads to Zolder with a 23-point gap on Jeroen Bleekemolen and Hari Proczyk (No. 28 GRT Lamborghini), who must keep the points difference below 34 to keep the title fight alive for Baku.

Circuit Zolder, however, has proved to suit the Lamborghini Gallardo FL2 in the past, with Peter Kox and Stefan Rosina taking the win last year, while Reiter Engineering also held a private test at the Belgian track two weeks ago.
