Buhk Joins Title-Contending AKKA-ASP Crew for Decider

GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup title contender AKKA-ASP has signed Maximilian Buhk to its lineup for next weekend’s Paul Ricard 1000km.

Buhk will replace Felipe Fraga, who is taking part in the clashing FIA World Endurance Championship 8 Hours of Bahrain with Porsche GTE-Am squad Team Project 1.

Mercedes-AMG factory driver Buhk will team up with AKKA-ASP regulars Raffaele Marciello and Timur Boguslavskiy who are battling for the Endurance Cup championship.

Marciello, Boguslavskiy and Fraga – who is now unlikely to win the title – are level on points with Dinamic Motorsport’s Matteo Cairoli, Sven Mueller and Christian Engelhart.

Boguslavskiy is also attempting to consolidate his lead in GTWC Europe overall drivers’ championship, which combines points scores from Endurance Cup and Sprint Cup.

Buhk drove in this season’s 3 Hours of Imola and 6 Hours of the Nürburgring, sharing a GetSpeed Performance Mercedes-AMG with Fabian Schiller and Alessio Lorandi.

Fraga is one of three drivers in Endurance Cup title contention not taking part in the end-of-year decider because of the date clash with the 8 Hours of Bahrain.

Ferrari factory drivers James Calado and Nicklas Nielsen have also been prioritized in the WEC round where both can win class championships.

WEC regulars Cairoli, Matt Campbell and Alessandro Pier Guidi are all missing Bahrain to feature in the Endurance Cup title fight.

Pier Guidi is third in the standings, six points off the lead, while Campbell and his GPX Racing co-drivers Mathieu Jaminet and Patrick Pilet are a further five points back. 

A full entry list for the Paul Ricard 1000km is expected to come out shortly.
