After claiming a dominant 1-2-3-4 sweep in the 44th running of the Nürburgring 24, Mercedes-AMG will also support four of its GT3s cars in the next month’s Total 24 Hours of Spa.
HTP Motorsport, Black Falcon and AKKA ASP will all receive additional support from Mercedes-AMG heading into the Belgian endurance classic, adding the “AMG-Team” prefix to its respective team names.
After staying true to a strict policy of treating all its customer teams exactly the same, the German manufacturer has changed its views with the introduction of the new AMG GT3.
HTP will add an additional car to its regular two-car lineup for Paul Ricard and Spa, although only the No. 84 and No. 86 cars will be factory backed.
Maxi Buhk, Dominik Baumann, and Jazeman Jafaar will remain in the No. 84 entry, while the No. 86 Mercedes piloted by Thomas Jäger, Christian Hohenadel and Jules Szymkowiak this weekend, will most likely be reinforced with the arrival of another factory driver for Spa.
The new-for-this weekend No. 00 AMG-Team Black Falcon Mercedes is shared by Bernd Schneider, Yelmer Buurman and Abdulaziz Al Faisal, although chances are the latter driver will be replaced by Maro Engel for the 24-hour race.
As previously indicated by the team, AKKA ASP will add a Pro Cup Mercedes to its regular two Pro-Am cars for the blue riband event.
Renger van der Zande, Tristan Vautier and Morgan Moulin Traffort will compete in French squad’s factory supported No. 88 entry at Paul Ricard, with Felix Rosenqvist set to complete the lineup at Spa.
The AMG support entails optimal equipment, factory drivers plus additional engineers and strategists.
