The No. 74 Kessel Racing Ferrari 296 GT3 has been stripped of pole position for GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Sprint Cup Race 1 at Magny-Cours due to a track limit infringement.
Dennis Marschall had initially gone quickest in qualifying by setting a best time of 1:35.856, which allowed him to outpace the No. 63 GRT Grasser Racing Team Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 driven by Luca Engstler.
However, a stewards’ bulletin issued after qualifying outlined that Marschall was found to have breached track limits at Turn 1, with his lap time deleted as a result.
This means that the No. 74 Ferrari, which Marschall shares with Dustin Blattner, will start last for the opening 60-minute contest later on Saturday.
As a result, Engstler and Jordan Pepper have been promoted to pole position in the No. 63 Lamborghini, joined on the second row by the No. 96 Rutronik Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R of Patric Niederhauser and Sven Mueller.
Marschall, meanwhile, has also been stripped of the class pole in Bronze Cup as a result of the penalty, with the No. 270 Comtoyou Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo now the highest-placed car in the class.
