Plowman, Dolby Complete Garage 59 Lineup for Blancpain Sprint

Former JRM drivers Martin Plowman and Craig Dolby will make the switch to McLaren this year, having been confirmed in Garage 59’s second McLaren 650S GT3 for the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup.

The pairing join the previously confirmed Rob Bell and Alvaro Parente, who will also contest the five-round championship that kicks off this weekend at Misano.

Plowman, the 2013 FIA World Endurance LMP2 Champion, is set for his Sprint Cup debut after taking part in the Endurance rounds alongside Dolby last year in a Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3.

“To race with Garage 59 this year is a big opportunity for me,” Plowman said. “I’d like to thank Andrew [Kirkaldy] and Bas [Leinders] for putting their faith in me.

“I’m also looking forward to working with my teammate Craig Dolby again. We go back a long way and have a very good understanding of each other, which will help us to hit the ground running.

“McLaren is such an iconic brand and they know how to build winning race cars, so I can’t wait to get started.”

Dolby, meanwhile, is looking to improve on his 14th place finish in the Sprint championship last year, after a number of encouraging drives alongside Sean Walkinshaw, who has been promoted to a Nissan Athlete in the RJN squad.

“I’m really looking forward to the season ahead with Martin,” Dolby said. “The experience we both have puts us in a good position going into the championship and hopefully we can bring some silverware home for the team and the 650S GT3.”

A total of 40 GT3 cars are set for this weekend’s season-opener at Misano.
