Mercedes-AMG outfit Toksport WRT has expanded its involvement in Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS to include a full-time Endurance Cup entry, setting the team up for its Total 24 Hours of Spa debut.
The Nürburgring-based squad made its GTWC Europe debut last year running two Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evos in the Sprint Cup championship.
It has now spread across to the five-round Endurance Cup series which includes Spa as the centerpiece round in late July-early August.
Both of Toksport WRT’s Mercedes-AMGs will run in the Silver Cup class, while Colombia’s Oscar Tunjo is the only crossover driver between the two competitions.
Tunjo will contest the Endurance Cup with Paul Petit and Marvin Dienst. In Sprint Cup, he will be joined by his returning teammate from last season Juuso Puhakka.
The team says that it will announce its full Spa lineup at a later date.
Petit drove for AKKA-ASP in the GT4-based French FFSA GT Championship last year but has also piloted Audi GT3 machinery in GTWC Europe for Team WRT.
Dienst joins Toksport WRT, which also operates a global-level rally team, after two seasons with Mercedes-AMG squad Schuetz Motorsport in ADAC GT Masters.
Toksport is also a regular in the German GT Masters series and is returning this year for a second full-length campaign with AMG factory drivers Maro Engel and Luca Stolz.
The team finished fourth in the Sprint Cup Silver standings last year and third in GT Masters.
