Team AKKA-ASP will step up to the Pro Cup class of the Blancpain GT Series, having confirmed the drivers for its three new Mercedes-AMG GT3s in the Blancpain Sprint Cup.
Open-wheel aces Tristan Vautier and Felix Rosenqvist headline the French squad’s lineup, with the duo teaming up in a the lead Mercedes-AMG GT3 for the five-round championship.
The former Indy Lights champion and IndyCar driver will make his Sprint Cup debut alongside 24-year-old Swede Rosenqvist, the reigning FIA European Formula 3 champion, a two-time winner of the Macau Grand Prix.
AKKA-ASP’s two other Mercedes will be entered in the Pro-Am category for Morgan Moullin Traffort/Jean-Luc Beaubelique and Jean-Philipple Belloc/Christophe Bourret.
“We are aware that the level of this series is very high, and that we have everything to learn in Sprint, but as always we are fully motivated to fight and – if possible – to be at the front,” said team principal Jerome Poicand.
“The season will get underway very soon, so we will have to make the most of our test sessions.”
The team has yet to announce its driver lineups for the Endurance Cup.
