Michelin tires helped lead the No. 7 Penske Porsche 963 to their second victory of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season at the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring.
Felipe Nasr, Nick Tandy and Laurens Vanthoor are the first trio since 2008 to secure an overall win for Porsche Penske at Sebring.
“From 24 Hours of Daytona winner to Sebring winner, I just couldn’t dream about a better way to start the year,” said Nasr.
The 12-hour race saw a green flag run from hours three and eight.
Tandy battled for the lead with two hours to go, ultimately gaining the top spot. He handed the car to Nasr, who dominated the remainder of the race.
“The team just did incredible work,” said Nasr. “The great thing about Sebring is you go through all the transitions of the day from the heat to the cold part of the night, and the tires just drove well, they felt good and at the end I was able to push to the end, which was a great race to the end. So, thanks Michelin for the support.”
Nasr and Tandy hold a 91-point advantage to their No. 6 teammates Mathieu Jaminet and Matt Campbell heading into the next round.
