On the heels of its victory in last weekend’s Total 24 Hours of Spa, Marc VDS Racing Team has announced that team principal Bas Leinders has parted ways with the Belgian squad.

The Belgian driver-turned manager has played an instrumental role in the team’s success over the years.

According to team president Marc van der Stranten, Leinder’s departure is part of a restructuring process that will see the team’s motorsport and motorcycle linked closer.

“We achieved one of our long term goals with our first win at the 24 Hours of Spa and now we must look to the future,” said van der Straten.

“Currently we have two teams competing in different disciplines, both with their own management and logistical support.

“The aim of the restructuring is to bring these two teams together, allowing us to streamline the management and logistical infrastructure whilst still benefitting from the experience we have within the team.

“It will be a big change, but one that that will leave the team leaner, more efficient and, ultimately, more competitive.

“I’d like to thank Bas for his contribution to the team and I wish him all the best with his future endeavors.”

The team will be making further announcements about its new management structure in mid-September.
