Schnitzer Set for Endurance, GT Masters Programs

BMW Team Schnitzer is set for a mixed GT3 program that will include a season-long effort in ADAC GT Masters, as well as a return to the Nürburgring 24.

The Charly Lamm-led operation will return to full-time GT racing after a four-year stint in DTM and is set to compete alongside established works-supported teams ROWE Racing and Schubert Motorsport with the BMW M6 GT3.

The exact race programs for all three teams have yet to be announced, although the German manufacturer will again be represented in the Blancpain GT Series, as well as VLN races.

BMW Junior Jesse Krohn will be in a M6 GT3 for the Nürburgring 24, alongside BMW’s factory DTM drivers.

Drivers and the number of entries for the remaining programs have yet to be announced.

“The BMW M6 GT3 made a successful all-round debut in 2016,” BMW Motorsport Director Jens Marquardt said. “We are aiming for more wins and titles next season with our top model in customer racing.

“The three teams, ROWE Racing, Schubert Motorsport and BMW Team Schnitzer, all have a special role to play and will compete with this car in various series.

“After winning in Spa in 2016, we now want to continue our long-running success story on the Nordschleife. As far as teams and drivers are concerned, we are ideally equipped to do this.”
