Helio Castroneves set the pace in Practice 2 for the Rolex 24 at Daytona on Thursday afternoon driving the No. 7 Acura Team Penske ARX-05 DPi.

The Brazilian driver was at the top of the timesheets for most of the session with a 1:37.036 his fastest lap time, putting him 0.324 seconds in the lead.

Nicolas Lapierre was the second-quickest driver in the Tequila Patron ESM Nissan Onroak DPi while Filipe Albuquerque was the fastest Cadillac DPi-V.R pilot in third.

Patrick Pilet was at the head of the GT Le Mans field in his No. 911 Porsche 911 RSR just 0.068 seconds ahead of Jan Magnussen’s No. 3 Corvette C.7R.

Michael Shank Racing led the way in the GT Daytona category with Alvaro Parente driving the No. 86 Acura NSX GT3, meanwhile.

Several cars had minor incidents during the session with Manthey Racing’s Matteo Cairoli causing a brief red-flag period in the opening ten minutes.

Olivier Pla, Felix Rosenqvist and Come Ledogar had off-track excursions throughout the 60-minute session.

A red flag was called with five minutes on the clock, prematurely finishing the session.

The No. 24 BMW M8 GTE is yet to post a flying lap this weekend following a mechanical issue earlier in the day.

Qualifying will get underway at 3:55 p.m.
