Take a look back at the key moments in the Cadillac DPi-V.R program, from conception to the car’s first laps and 1-2 finish in its competition debut in last weekend’s IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season-opening Rolex 24 at Daytona.

2015
*February, Dallara begins chassis design.
*April, Dallara evaluates engine installation V6 vs. V8.
*May, first (handmade) DPi-V.R car concept from Dallara presented to Cadillac.
*November, Cadillac design begins collaboration with Dallara on body styling.
*ECR joins program to design and develop engine package working with Cadillac and Dallara.
*Engine installation simulations on CAD.

2016
*January full-size clay model at Cadillac Design.
*ECR Engines begins designing and developing engine package and chassis integration system.
*April, Cosworth begins electronics design.
*First dyno test spark of Cadillac 6.2L V8 development mule at ECR.
*June, Cosworth electronics meet Dallara chassis in Italy.
*August, first Cadillac DPi-V.R received by Wayne Taylor Racing team in Indianapolis.
*September, first rollout at Putnam Park in Indiana, Wayne Taylor Racing car.
*First on-track spark, Cadillac 6.2L V8 engine runs in first car.
*Action Express receives first car, shake down in North Carolina.
*October, Action Express and Wayne Taylor Racing test at National Corvette Museum track in Bowling Green, Ky.
*Wayne Taylor Racing performs straight-line tests at Transportation Research Center in Ohio.
*Action Express receives first car, shake down in North Carolina.
*Wayne Taylor Racing test at Watkins Glen International Raceway.
*Action Express car two delivered. Test at Watkins Glen International.
*November, 24-hour test at Charlotte Motor Speedway for Wayne Taylor Racing, Jeff Gordon first drive. A significant portion of the test was run in the rain. Action Express Racing completes first full on-track test.
*Action Express Racing test at Road Atlanta.
*December, Cadillac announces return to IMSA prototype racing with Cadillac DPi-V.R.
* Cadillac DPi-V.R breaks cover at IMSA test at Daytona International Speedway. All three Cadillac DPi-V.Rs complete two-day test.
* Action Express Racing tests both cars at Sebring.

2017
*January, Roar before the 24 test, all three Cadillac DPi-V.R race cars on the track.
*January, Rolex 24 at Daytona, Wayne Taylor Racing, Action Express finish 1-2 in debut race.

From August-January (pre-Rolex 24): over 7,300 testing miles have been logged between the Wayne Taylor run No. 10 Konica Minolta Cadillac DPi-V.R, the Action Express Racing No. 5 Mustang Sampling Cadillac DPi-V.R and No. 31 Whelen Engineering Cadillac DPi-V.R.

Cadillac DPi-V.R engines have amassed over 10,000 miles both on track and at ECR Engines where an additional 24-hour Daytona simulation was completed.
